Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Program
This document outlines a cooperative program of research, management, and monitoring of neotropical migrant land birds and their habitats in North and Latin America and the Caribbean Basin. A comprehensive program is needed to address the decline of neotropical migrants on their breeding and wintering grounds. Declines have been attributed to human activities such as forest fragmentation, tropical deforestation, and overall habitat loss. Developed during a planning workshop held in Atlanta, Georgia on December 10-14, 1990, this report reflects the consensus of numerous federal and state agencies, private and government institutions, and academicians.
