Migratory Bird Joint Ventures are voluntary, cooperative, regional partnerships
…of private industry and landowners working alongside federal, state, non-government organizations, and other stakeholders to conserve habitat for the benefit of birds, other wildlife, and people. For nearly 30 years, Migratory Bird Joint Ventures have worked to conserve millions of acres of essential habitat across the U.S., Canada, and much of Mexico. Joint Ventures believe the well-being of our communities and our nations depends upon the health of landscapes and wildlife.
Joint Venture partnerships are implementing cooperative strategies from the PIF Landbird Conservation Plan to restore habitats and reverse bird population declines at the continental scale over the next decade and beyond. Important information on population trends, loss, and extinction risk of Watch List species in the Plan helps these regional partnerships prioritize and carry out conservation actions across the full life-cycle of birds.
As they celebrate the 30th Anniversary of this model for international collaboration in 2017, Joint Ventures are looking ahead to the next thirty years and beyond of building strong, effective partnerships for bird and habitat conservation. See this Story Map of recent JV accomplishments.
