A status assessment and conservation plan for Henslow’s Sparrow including population goals and prioritized conservation actions.

This conservation plan presents information about Grasshopper Sparrow population status, habitat needs, threats and limiting factors; synthesis of these resources has identified recommended conservation actions, habitat management, research, and education components that will facilitate Grasshopper Sparrow conservation.

Ensuring that conservation decisions are informed by the best available data is a fundamental challenge in the
face of rapid global environmental change. Too often, new science is not easily or quickly translated into conservation
action. Open access data could serve as a tool to help bridge the gap between science and action, by providing conservation practitioners with access to relevant data in near real time. Broad-scale citizen-science data represent a fast-growing resource for open access databases, providing relevant and appropriately scaled data on organisms, much in
the way autonomous sensors do so on the environment. This paper uses eBird, a project where individuals around the
world submit data on bird distribution and abundance, as an example of how citizen-science data can be used to
achieve tangible conservation science and action at local, regional, and global scales. This examination illustrates
how these data can be strategically applied to improve our understanding of spatial and temporal distributions of
birds, the impacts of anthropogenic change on ecological systems, and creative conservation solutions to complex
problems.

This document encompasses four components of conservation planning for Golden-winged Warblers. Chapter 1 is a Golden-winged Warbler Status Review. Chapter 2—the Golden-winged Warbler Full Life Cycle Conservation Strategy—provides a comprehensive framework of goals and objectives for this species. The Golden-winged Warbler Breeding Season Conservation Plan comprises Chapter 3 and provides regionally specific guidelines for restoring and enhancing productive Golden-winged Warbler breeding habitat. The anticipated 4th Chapter,the Golden-winged Warbler Non-breeding Season Conservation Plan,will be completed soon.

This plan provides an overview of important conservation actions needed in order to address factors contributing to the decline of Cerulean Warblers. It provides a brief summary of the biological characteristics of the bird and the factors believed to be contributing to its decline, along with a list of critical activities needed for the conservation of this species.This plan is intended to provide a road map for the major types of conservation actions necessary to keep this species from continued declines.

This Plan highlights the priority conservation actions needed to address factors contributing to the global vulnerability of Bicknell’s Thrush. The Plan summarizes salient life history characteristics of Bicknell’s Thrush, identifies factors that may limit its populations, proposes desired population and habitat goals for conservation, and describes critical activities needed to achieve those targets.
